The next recipe in this diabetic month is the simplest but maybe the mightiest of them all: Okra Water.
Okra also known as Lady’s Finger is a natural insulin for diabetics. It works by lowering the rate at which sugar is absorbed from food in the intestines. This does not mean that you should stop taking your insulin medicines. PLEASE KEEP TAKING YOUR DRUGS AS ADVISED BY THE DOCTOR.
Okra is a good source of Protein, Riboflavin, Niacin, Phosphorus, Potassium, Zinc and Copper. It is a very good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Thiamine, Vitamin B6, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium and Manganese. It is also known to be low in saturated fat and sodium and very low in cholesterol.

Okra has many health benefits which include the following:

Ingredients:
- 3 okra fingers
- 1 glass of water.
Preparation:
- In the evening, cut off the stalk from the okra.
- Make several cuts along the okra.
- Place them in a glass of cool (not chilled) water, cover and leave on your kitchen counter overnight.
- The next morning, remove the okras from the water.
- Drink first thing in the morning before you eat breakfast.
