Okra Soup Overload!

I was looking at the photos you all send to me when you prepare these Nigerian recipes and I saw lots of Okra Soup! I am making today Okra Soup Day so you all can join me in drooling over these photos.

This post will help you appreciate the different consistencies of Okra Soup we can prepare, the different ways we can cut okra for Okra Soup and the different ratios of okra to leafy vegetables to palm oil you can find in Nigerian Okra Soup.

Click >> Nigerian Okra Soup for the recipe for the conc. vitamin-filled Okra Soup. 😉

Enjoy!

Eat and Sleep Okra Soup by Eva-Mama Adaocha Eneremadu‎.

This Okra Soup is real eat and sleep. Very conc.!

Okra Soup by Sandy Damian‎.

Sandy’s Okra Soup is lighter. When you prepare Ogbono and Okra Soup, it looks this way too.

Asfau Idris‎ served Semolina with Egusi Soup and Okra Soup.

Again a light Okra Soup. Which of the two soups do you prefer?

Fresh Okra Soup by Vivian Ezebude‎.

Everything looks green because Vivian used more green vegetables. She also added little or no palm oil. These days, lots of people prepare oiless Okra Soup to cut down on oils.

Okra Soup by Patience Adah.

Patience added chopped red habanero peppers and this makes the soup pop! Some people add chopped red habanero peppers to add colour to the soup and leave out palm oil completely.

Okra Soup by Christy Ikpefan‎.

Christy cut her okra very bold. This is a great idea if you want to prepare Vegetarian Okra Soup. For my Nigerian brothers and sisters who cannot do without “obstacles” in our soups, chewing on these bold-cut okra will feel like you are eating meat ooo. 😀

How do you like your Okra Soup? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂

  1. I do chunky chopped okro but also grate or blend. I have Team Chopped Okro and Team Grated Okro in my house, so i get to please each but left to me I’d prefer chopped. I also use more tatashe than palm oil.

  2. I am a south African lady in a relationship with Nigerian man.this blog is helping me a lot when it comes to preparing some delicious dishes from Nigeria.

    I thank you all.

  3. lol @ eating that okra will feel like eating obstacle. I like hand-cut okra but not that big. In my place, if you cut okra like that, you will be seen as a bad cook (not being rude to Christy). All the different versions look delicious. Thanks you for sharing.

    • lol @ seen as a bad cook! And a lazy one. 😀 You must be Igbo! You can prepare whatever you want in the comfort of your home but when grandma or grandpa comes around, you go back to the traditional mode. 😀

I just bought your cookery book from Konga, and I love it. My only regret is that it was first published in 2013, and it does not contain many of the recent recipes featured on your website. Whenever you decide to publish a new edition of the book, I shall most certainly purchase it. Regards. Dennis E.

    • Thanks for the honest feedback Dennis. I am glad you love the cookbook.
Yes, the cookbook contains all the recipes on the site at the time of publishing and a bit more.
Sure, if I receive enough requests to publish a cookbook that contains the later recipes, I will definitely do it.
As a self-publisher, making this cookbook is very capital intensive so I hope you will understand if that does not happen. 🙂

Comment to show me you are alive and cooking some delicious food!
